Personal injuries *: Compensation for Accident in a Creche

A child who was 4 years old, was injured in an accident* in creche when she knelt on broken glass which was on the floor of the crèche.

The Creche in question, admitted liability for the cut to her knee which left a visible scar. They also consented to an assessment by the Injuries Board which  assessed the claim at €25,000 plus legal costs. As the case involved a minor the settlement amount agreed had to be ruled by the court and Judge Deery in the Circuit Court approved this compensation amount.

*In contentious business, a solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement. This statement is made in compliance with Reg.8 of SI 518 of 2002.
